How to Make a Carousel With Claude
Claude can write a good carousel in one go if you ask for the right shape. This is the shape, and the prompt that gets it.
The shape
A carousel is an argument in slides. The ones that get saved follow the same order:
- Hook slide. One line that makes someone stop. A claim, a number, a mistake. Under ten words if you can.
- One idea per slide. A short title and two or three sentences, or a list of three to five items. If a slide needs a paragraph, it is two slides.
- One proof slide. A number, a quote, a before and after. Something that isn’t your opinion.
- Closing slide. What to do next: save, follow, read the caption. Your handle.
Five to eight slides is the sweet spot. Instagram allows twenty; nobody swipes twenty.
The prompt
Make a carousel with Karou on [topic]. Hook slide first, then one idea per slide (text or list slides), one stat or quote slide with a real number from what I told you, and a cta slide at the end. Keep every title under 10 words. Use the [bold / clean / editorial] template, 4:5.
Give Claude the facts before you ask: your numbers, your story, the quote. It will not invent them, and a carousel without a real number is a carousel of adjectives.
Formats
- 4:5 (1080×1350) for Instagram and Threads. It takes the most screen in the feed.
- 1:1 (1080×1080) when the same images go to several networks.
- 9:16 (1080×1920) for stories and TikTok photo posts.
- PDF for LinkedIn: upload the PDF as a document post and it becomes a swipeable carousel.
Karou renders all three sizes from the same slides, and the ZIP and PDF come with every render.
Fixing a slide
Don’t start over. Say “slide 3 is too long, cut it to one sentence” or “swap to the editorial template” and Claude calls edit on the same carousel. Edits don’t count against the daily limit.
What a slide can hold
Karou sizes the text to fit and tells Claude when a slide has too much, so you never get a cut-off line. The limits are generous (a hook title can run to 140 characters) but the carousels that work stay well under them.
